Abstract
In the Russian Federation, the development of socially oriented non-profit organizations, the expansion of the non-governmental segment of social services and the introduction of innovations in the provision of social services are supported at the state level. The third sector continues to develop actively in the Volgograd region; organizations cooperate quite successfully with government agencies, businesses, and each other; this improves the quality of life of socially vulnerable categories of citizens and leads to a decrease in social tension in the city and the region. The heads of non-profit organizations are interested in the practices of their colleagues' grant activity and strive to increase the level of literacy in this direction. Experienced specialists understand that in addition to the benefits, there may be risks and barriers to grant support. The authors of the article consider the practices of participation of socially oriented non-profit organizations in competitions for grant support. In 2023, a study was conducted on the basis of the student center for the development of socially oriented non-profit organizations of Volgograd State University, the purpose of which was to determine the most successful strategies for the activities of SO NPOs, allowing them to receive the support of grantors. The empirical basis of the study was 73 projects of SO NPOs (Volgograd region) applying for grant support in 2020–2023. Projects that have received development funding from the main and unique grant operator, the Presidential Grants Fund, have been highlighted. The paper presents the main characteristics of the content of the projects that have received funding. The projects that have received the maximum and minimum funding in three years are analyzed. The conducted research allowed the authors to determine the basic requirements for obtaining grant support. The authors conclude that the involvement of socially oriented non-profit organizations in the provision of social services allows expanding the boundaries and improving the quality of social services.
