Проблема свободи та необхідності в філософських поглядах Бенджаміна Франкліна

Abstract

У статті здійснюється історико-філософський аналіз основних філософських поглядів видатного американськогомислителя XVIII ст. Бенджаміна Франкліна, досліджуютьсяфілософські тексти та листи філософа. Розкриваються погляди філософа на проблему свободи і необхідності, висвітленорелігійні погляди філософа. Розмірковуючи про Бога та йогоатрибути, такі як премудрість, благо, всемогутність, Б. Франклін робить висновок про пануючу у механістичному Всесвітінеобхідність, яка суперечить свободі волі людини, можливостііснування зла як такого. Б. Франклін називає Бога Першодвигуном, стверджуючи, що з огляду на безмежну мудрість таблагодать Бога все, що б Він не робив, має бути нескінченномудрим і благим. Розкрито деїстичні погляди філософа на проблему взаємозв’язку Всесвіту та Бога, наголошується на тому,що у світі панує необхідність, свобода є проблематичним поняттям, а релігія потребує переосмислення. The article deals with the historical and philosophical analysis of the main philosophical views of the outstanding Americanthinker of the 18th century – Benjamin Franklin. Philosophicaltexts and letters are studied. The views of the philosopher onthe problem of freedom and necessity are revealed; the religiousviews of the philosopher are specified. Reflecting on God andhis attributes, such as «all-wise», «all-good», «all powerful»,B. Franklin concludes that there is a necessity in the mechanistic Universe that is contrary to the free will of man and thepossibility of the existence of evil. There is no substance of evil.B. Franklin calls God the First Mover, arguing that if He is infinitely wise and kind, whatever He does (or that He allows to bemade) must be infinitely wise and good. The deistic views of thephilosopher on the problem of the universe and God are revealed.The philosopher asserts that Necessity rules in the world, Freedom is a problematic concept and Religion requires rethinking.
