Abstract

This study conducted a meta-analysis to examine 26 studies evaluating the effectiveness ofsuicide prevention programs for the elderly in Korea. Meta-analysis results were specified intothe general group and risk group and explored effect sizes and moderating effects for theselected studies from 2008 to 2022. Results revealed significant effect sizes for the general group(g=0.63) and the risk group (g=0.91). When analyzing suicide risk factors and protective factorsas moderator variables, suicide protective factor showed a larger affect size in the risk group,but not in the general group. The results of this study provide comprehensive and systematicanalysis of the effectiveness of suicide prevention programs for the elderly in Korea, andfurthermore provide fundamental data for the development of future suicide preventionprograms for the elderly.
