Abstract

The article is devoted to the trends in the development of “Anthropology of Islam” as a popular re-search and educational direction in the last decade. Academics with a Muslim background work to correct the representation of Islam and the inner world of Muslims in scientific discourse. When studying Muslims, their internal disposition is often ignored and conclusions, made only on the ba-sis of “outsider” observations, may be superficial and biased since the “correct” Europeanized re-spondents are surveyed. Islamic scholars have been trying to correct it and achieve adequate repre-sentation of Muslims since the time of Talal Assad. The main methodological materials are present-ed in the article in the order of their appearance.
