Abstract

The purpose of the article is a comparative analysis of travelogue texts in English and their translations made by modern machine translation systems in order to establish the preservation of the emotional-evaluative component of the lexical meaning of the word from the original text in the translation. The analysis was carried out according to the following scheme: determination of the meaning of the emotional-evaluative word in the original text, analysis of the meaning of the emotional-evaluative word in the original text and the translated text in a comparative aspect, and determination of the relationship between the word in the original text and the word in the translated text. The results of the analysis led to the conclusion that when transferring emotionalevaluative vocabulary in the translation of travelogue texts, the main translational transformation is the selection of a functional analogue. This is due to the need to ensure that the recipient of the translation has an effect equivalent to that of the original work.
