Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the relation between Obangsaek and Obangnang, their meanings and colors, and we suggest cultural products in the sense that it re-examines the design of Obangsaek and the Five Elements called Ohaeng. The scope of the study is established as examining the meaning of traditional colors, Obangsaek, and Obangnang, investigating the characteristics of Obangsaek by generation, and analyzing the colors of Obangnang to design cultural goods through literature. As a result of the research, Obangsaek is unique traditional colors and very deeply involved in everyday life. Obangnang, made based on Obangsaek and Ohaeng, was used to wish for health and good luck, and the tendency to value Ohaeng was noticeable. Based on this perspective, modernized cultural products were presented. It is meaningful that we seek the direction of Korean style design by using Obangsaek and present the possibility of cultural product design development by establishing the modern color scheme. Obangsaek and Obangnang are excellent items that can represent the Korean image, and we hope that these design development continues to be modernized.
