Abstract
The purpose of the study is to develop a shorter version of job interest inventory for college athletes. Although Kwon and Han (2017) developed the original version of job interest inventory for college athletes, the inventory was too long to gather necessary data in an efficient way. Also, the inventory showed a marginal level of psychometric properties. Thus, we attempted to develop a shorter version of the inventory with better content validity and construct validity. To improve the content validity, expert panel was formed. The experts examined the wording of the items along with publicized beta coefficents of Kwon and Han (2017) and choose the best three items in each sub-category. The shorter version of the inventory was empirically tested for its construct validity using a confirmatory factor analysis. The data were collected from universities in Seoul and its vicinity that run athletic teams. Total of 189 athletes participated in the study. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis (x²/df=123.93/48 =2.58, GFI=.90, CFI=.95, TLI=.93, RMSEA=.092) indicated that the short version of the inventory showed a better construct validity than Kwon and Han (2017).
