Abstract

The use of new information technologies in educational practice will entail an update of the learning process and the subject. This circumstance requires a revision of the purpose, content, form and methods of training students at pedagogical universities. A modern teacher should not only have the volume of knowledge necessary for professional activity, but also be able to creatively apply it in the educational process. Consequently, the educational process at a university should be based on a competence-based approach. This article analyzes the essence of the concepts of "competence", "information competence", defines the basic structural elements of information competence of students of a pedagogical university.
