Abstract
Compared to the rate of apartment fires, casualties are relatively high. The “golden time” during a fire is when the fire grows and the flames erupt, making it almost impossible for the occupants to survive. Therefore, it is important for occupants to quickly extinguish the fire before the fire brigade arrives by installing a simple indoor fire hydrant system within the household. A study involving 10 men and women in their 20s and 60s was conducted to compare and analyze the deployment times of fire hoses in Bedrooms 1 and 2. Compared with the hose reel indoor fire hydrant in Bedroom 1, the simple indoor fire hydrant was found to deploy fire hoses more quickly, taking a minimum of 19 seconds and a maximum of 27.5 seconds. Bedroom 2 exhibited a minimum of 12.8 seconds and a maximum of 27.4 seconds. The difference in deployment times was delayed by factors such as the corridor, the speed, and the time needed to open and close the fire door, while the simple indoor fire hydrant allowed for quick deployment of hoses in household toilets.
