Abstract

The article highlights the importance of the food sub-complexes of the Kemerovo region in solving the problem of food security in the region. It has been determined that at the current stage of economic development of the region the consumer and environmental factors are of particular importance in agriculture. The main environmental problems in the regional agricultural production are associated with increasing coal production and reducing agricultural areas due to their use for industrial needs. The current level of development of food sub-complexes does not fully meet the needs of the population. The meat and dairy sub-complexes are particularly lagging behind in development, which, through their own production, provide the population needs in meat and milk with 48.7% and 42.7%, correspondingly. The successful development of grain, potato and egg product sub-complexes made it possible to completely meet the demands for these products per capita. Analysis of factual consumption of the staple foods is as close to medical standards both due to the regional production and imported foods from the neighboring regions of Siberia. The study confirmed that under the influence of the consumer and environmental factors the changes in the territorial structure in the agricultural production of Kuzbass are possible. There is a risk of cutback in agricultural production under the influence of the environmental factors in the Kuznetsk Basin which is considered the main granary of the region at present. Because of shrinkage of agricultural lands, only intensive agricultural sectors could receive further development, such as industrial poultry and livestock farming on an industrial basis, hot-houses. The main production of grain, potatoes and open field vegetables will be presented within the northern forest-steppe areas. The research materials can be used by local authorities to develop measures for creating the agricultural policy in the region.
