Abstract

The social structure of modern Russian society is in a state of constant transformation. Social tension as a social phenomenon is a consequence of the growing dissatisfaction of social groups with their position. The study of the structure of society allows to understand the causes and characteristics of social tension. The purpose of the article to study the impact of the transformation of the social structure of society on the level of social tension. Research methodology - analysis of the history of studies of social tension in the context of transformation of the structure of society from the ancient era to the 20th century. As a result, the criteria and factors of social tension in society are substantiated. The main features of the social structure of society, which are characterized by a high level of social tension, are revealed. These factors include: a significant gap between the income of the upper and lower strata; an increase in the number of the poor; increased level of deprivation. Social tension is due to a number of contradictions between individuals of various kinds: material and property relations; social and professional; self-identification factors. An increase in the scale of these processes can lead to instability in society and protests.
