Abstract

The aim of this study is to model a fragment of the speech portrait of the professional group on the material of geologists’ poetic texts of the second half of the XX century. The poetic texts analysis identified 9 thematic groups used in the poetry of geologists: “Road-way”, “Country”, “Nature”, “Romanticization”, “Difficulties of the geologist profession”, “Minerals”, “Working tools”, “Mining Institute”, “Geologist’s Day”. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the thematic classification of the selected lexical material relevant for modeling the speech portrait of a geologist. As a result, it was found that the poetic texts, which express membership in a particular group (geologists), make it possible to reconstruct the geologist’s linguistic picture of the world in the second half of the XX century based on the concepts WAY-ROAD, NATURE – WORLD, NATIVE – FOREIGN. Poetic texts can also be used for constructing a speech portrait of a modern geologist, as some traditions (for example, congratulations on the Geologist’s Day in verse form) originated in the 60-70s of the XX century.
