Abstract

The article discusses the concept of STEM education, its key properties. The main advantages and fundamental differences of this type of education in comparison with traditional methods, which include the main component of information, communication and digital technologies, have been formed. The content of the concept of digital competence, the acquisition of which is one of the qualitative results of the introduction of STEM education into the educational process, is analyzed. Based on the research of scientists, the main criteria for the formation of digital competence were determined and the main directions of the development of digital competences in future physics teachers were formed. Which include the use of digital technologies and various application programs to provide theoretical and practical material, the introduction of mobile devices, robotics tools, virtual laboratories, specialized software and hardware into the educational process.
