Abstract

In article are considered features of a zoomorphism in terracotta figurines of the Maya of the classical period. It is possible to allocate several types (variants) of zoomorphous images. There are distinguished plot features, specifics of technological elements and proposed interpretation of four groups of zoomorphic terracotta images. The originality of the study and the use of expressive means in figurative plastic in the expression of zoomorphism, makes it possible to highlight two of its main characteristic features: conditionality in the creation of the representative of fauna itself, and high-character in cases of their sacralization. The experience and skill of the master manufacturer is important.
