Abstract

The article analyses changes in the system of pedagogical staff training in the 1950s - at the beginning of the 1960s. Special attention is paid to the problems of implementing N. S. Khrushchev’s programme to establish “close relation of school and labour”. The authors show why the party and government bodies were highly concerned about the quality of distant students’ education and paid special attention to organizing courses of advanced training and retraining for school teachers. The paper analyses positive and negative consequences of the implemented reforms, shows their influence on further development of the Soviet education system.
