Abstract
Formation causes of snowflakes in steel products have been examined. For steel 40ХГМ, heat treatment methods of metal products were analyzed, which do this steel insensitive to the formation of snowflakes. By the electron microscopy it was found out that the steel propensity to form snowflakes depended on both heat treatment parameters and sulfur content in its composition.
