Abstract
The article considers the problem of updating the study of the activities of amateur local historians on the example of residents of villages in the Uglovsky district. Currently, interest has intensified among local residents in studying the history of villages, the activities of enterprises and other local topics. As a rule, they do not have a professional historical education and do not know the methodology of working with sources but have a huge desire and rich source material. In this regard, it is necessary to work to identify amateurs in the region to create joint projects with leading scientists of the region.
