The article examines the activities of Osoaviakhim (Society for the Promotion of Defense, Aviation and Chemical Construction) North Ossetia during the Great Patriotic War. The study is devoted to an important and eventful period in the history of our country. The study of the history of the Great Patriotic War remains relevant and in demand in our time. The scientific novelty of the work lies in an integrated approach to the analysis of the activities of Osoaviakhim in war conditions. The methodological basis of the research was archival materials, collections of documents, publications in periodicals, as well as retrospective and problem-chronological methods. The results of the study showed that there are not enough scientific works on the history of Osoaviakhim of North Ossetia, which underlines the need for further study of this topic, given the presence of a significant number of documents in the archives of the republic. The study highlights the importance of analyzing the contribution of organizations like Osoaviakhim to the overall victory over the German army during the war. It was revealed that the main task of the Osoaviakhim in North Ossetia during the war was to assist the army by organizing serious work on the preparation of reserves in frontline and rear areas. The population of Vladikavkaz and residents of the republic’s districts were trained for air defense and chemical warfare. The population also organized fundraising for the construction of equipment and weapons; hectares of fields were sown with grain from reserve stocks, warm clothes for soldiers were sent to the front. Osoaviakhim provided significant assistance to the wounded and orphans. After the liberation of the republic from the Nazi invaders, Osoaviakhim took an active part in the demining of the liberated territories, including residential buildings, industrial facilities and agricultural fields.
