Abstract

The article considers the problem of ensuring food security within the framework of the BRICS bloc. The countries included in this association have been demonstrating significant economic growth and strengthening their positions in the international arena over the past few years. The BRICS member states have great resource potential (land, water, labor resources) for the development of agriculture and are, for the most part, the world’s largest producers and exporters of agricultural and food products. In 2022, the export of agro-food products of the BRICS countries exceeded 15% of the world level. Issues of ensuring food security at the regional and national level have been constantly on the agenda of regularly held summits and have been reflected in a number of documents developed, among them the «BRICS Economic Partnership Strategy until 2025» and the «Action Plan for 2021-2024 on Agricultural cooperation of the BRICS countries». In order to implement joint actions to ensure the sustainable development of the member States on the basis of modern scientific and technological achievements, the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform was developed and put into operation.
