Abstract

The article examines the Siberian village image represented in the memoirs of Tomsk region residents of the last quarter of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The analysis of the memoirs texts has allowed identifying the following key characteristics of the Siberian village image: highly positive perception of Siberia as a native land, constant growth of rural population (voluntary and forced resettlers). The Siberian village is described as a territory of successful cross-ethnic interaction in different spheres; the Siberian peasant is depicted as an industrious person capable to overcome any ordeal and responsive to others’ suffering.
