Abstract

This article deals with the problem of teaching a second foreign language at the elementary stage in the Linguistic Institute. The study indicates that the elementary stage should include an introductory corrective course and a basic course. The attention is focused on the specifics of the contents of these components and on the choice of productive technologies and techniques for the formation of necessary competencies. The authors come to the conclusion that the principle of comprehensive training in all types of speech activity and the reliance on the first foreign language will positively impact the formation and the development of students skills to master their second foreign language in the future.
