Abstract

The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of onomatopoeic units in Russian, English and Italian languages. The hypothesis of the research is that the onomatopoeic words in different languages reflect originality of the language picture of the world by using its own phonetic and morphological means. The following was revealed in the conducted comparative analysis of onomatopoeic lexis of Russian, English and Italian: though the onomatopoeic lexis is common to all mankind and it is also language universal, it is realized in the words that have a national character. Therefore, different languages behave differently while imitating. At this point, the importance is placed on ideo-ethnic features of languages, cultures and traditions of peoples.
