Abstract

This study explores how to introduce the Anthropocene environmental issues to adolescents in the classroom through mass media demonstrating discipline - daily life integrated perspective. First, it challenges both the human-nature dualistic perspectives that unintentionally excludes humans actions on the nonhuman world and perspectives of technological responses, then, it emphasizes integrated perspectives, which combine ‘intellectual pessimism’ with ‘optimism of will’ with examples of movies. Given various examples in this study, it is useful to give students questions and discussions of the Anthropocene issues through popular movies in terms of public engagement in the daily lives.
