Abstract

The article deals with issues of gender relations in the labor market of Vinnytsia region at the present stage. The following basic concepts are analyzed: gender relations and gender equality. The basic approaches to the solution of gender problems in the implementation of gender policy that contribute to the development of the labor market of Vinnytsia region are considered. Areas of activities that coordinate gender relations in the Vinnytsia region’s labor market as part of state and regional gender policy are analyzed. The dynamics of economic activity and employment of the population of Vinnytsia region by gender during 2014-2019 are analyzed. The number of employed and unemployed persons by sex aged 15-70 years was determined, as well as the number of registered unemployed persons by sex was analyzed. It was found out what measures were taken in Ukraine and in Vinnytsia region, in particular, to improve employment and reduce unemployment. It has been found that women’s unemployment is determined not only by the effects of market mechanisms and the existence of appropriate barriers to employment (much less professional choice, skills, etc.), but also substantially related to reproductive activity. The gender pay gap has been identified. The number of entrepreneurs by gender in Vinnitsa region as of 2019 has been analyzed. It has been concluded that in spite of high educational and qualification level of women, which by some indicators even exceeds men’s, as well as high level of economic activity of women, there is a less favorable position of women in the labor market of Vinnytsia region.
