Abstract

Ukrainian ethnomusicologist Iryna Klymenko (Iрина Клименко) presents her continuous research work results on Slavic-Baltic early traditional melodic lines in this article, discovering common ethnic and morphologic similarities here from the cross-border West side of actual complex ethnic region. Author is planning publication series of so called “Area of Slavic and Baltic Early Tradition Tunes (SBRM)” genre registers. In terms of macro-arealogy SBRM showing several morphological contacts with the adjacent Polish and Belarusian traditions, and one of the intersection – Lithuanians (Dzūkija ethnic region). The author proposes the new classification system for the calendar folk songs forms primarily for their initial (basic) rhythmic figures.
