Abstract

Designers in the future society should play a competent role in converging technology with various fields through creative thinking to lead industrial development, present future visions, and solve many upcoming problems. The purpose of this study is to expand learners' thinking skills and foster creative thinking through bio-micri design education based on the design thinking process for creative and convergent thinking cultivation required by prospective designers. Accordingly, a two-week project class study was conducted on a first-year design major group at D University in Busan in 2021 to examine educational efficiency and various effects through classes by developing and utilizing processes and design toolkits useful in the bio-micri design curriculum. In order to find out about the various influences that appear in learners, in-depth interviews are conducted and analyzed. As a result of the above study, a positive response was found that ideas were diversified in the bio-micri design curriculum using the design toolkit according to the three-step process developed by this researcher as a class tool.
