Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the most appropriate intervention time in the process of barista training using virtual reality-based contents for students with developmental disabilities. To achieve this, it is necessary to identify any differences between students who successfully complete the given task without intervention and those who don’t. In this study, information about eye saccades, the rapid eye movements that shift the center of gaze from one part of the visual field to another, is used to identify differences. This paper found that the group who failed to work without assistance showed a relatively high amount of searching for information compared to the successful group, as demonstrated by a significant difference in the number of saccades between the two groups. Future studies will attempt to identify differences between the two groups of students by investigating their visual scanning patterns in a virtual environment.
