Material and methods. The study of wellbeing of the post-working age population covered 2014-2020, while the study of the processes of demographic ageing was confined to the period from 2000 to2020. In the course of the study, the authors have tested the methodology for assessing the Russian Elderly Wellbeing Index in healthcare at the level of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation. Results. The processes of population ageing which are formed mainly due to the female population are on within the territory of the Irkutsk region. This is evidenced by the calculated values of special ageing coefficients. Gender differences in ageing persist throughout the study period. In dynamics, the Russian Elderly Wellbeing Index showed multidirectional trends. The indexes of the groups of indicators "economy", "society", "regional space" slightly decreased, while the index of the "health" group increased. The change in the final value showed the index growth. Conclusion.
