Abstract
The article analyzes the state of the dairy industry of the North-Western Federal District. The purpose of the analysis was to assess its potential. The resource potential of the dairy industry was considered in a complex of interrelated sectors of milk production, milk processing and dairy production and consumption, whose tasks were to provide the population with high-quality milk and dairy products, and producers with a stable income. Using the methods of balance sheet and graphoanalytic analysis, the conditions and potential opportunities of the dairy industry were analyzed and evaluated. The market of milk and dairy products is one of the most important markets for agricultural products, and in addition, its function of providing the population with dairy products plays an important role in solving the overall task of ensuring food security of the population.
