Abstract

By the example of the stories from the collection “The First Community Workday” (1984), the paper analyses V. G. Sorokin’s perception of the Soviet absurd in all its manifestations. Total destruction of the Soviet discourse occurs due to the wide usage of artistic devices typical of absurdist literature. The article shows that such interpretation of the Soviet theme causes the catharsis effect in a reader’s consciousness and requires the explication of meta-text focused on finding and assertion of ontological and axiological meanings.
