Abstract

The article for the frst time attempts, based on the analysis of archival and statistical materials, to consider the settlement of the Mordvins of the territory of the Novosibirsk region. The article defnes the features in the settlement of the Mordovian areas of this territory. It is shown that the peculiarities of natural conditions in this region were one of the reasons for the reluctance to settle en masse in the Barabinsk zone. Mass migrations to this region began in the early 1920s, due to famine and shortage of land in the European part of Russia. The last migration fow of Mordvins to the districts of the Novosibirsk region falls on the prewar period of 1939-1941, which was associated with the need to develop the land fund and the formation of collective farms.
