Abstract
This work is dedicated to the problem of representing the socio-cultural processes of the late ХIХ - early ХХ century in the internal structure of the Tatar language, in particular, in its lexical-semantic component. Words with specific meanings of the thematic group “Human being” were taken as an object of the study. The subject of the paper is socially marked connotations represented in the semantics of the lexical units. The purpose of the research is to reveal, within the framework of a single thematic group, the features of the representation of social phenomena and changes that took place in the Tatar language in a certain historical period. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the study of the vocabulary of the Tatar language in the sociolinguistic aspect is carried out for the first time. As a result, it has been revealed that the representation of sociocultural processes at the language level occurs through the expansion of the semantics of specific words and the activation of lexemes of certain categories.
