Abstract

Old Russian singing art, preserved in the znamenny chant, track singing, de-mestvenny, Kiev, Greek, Bulgarian chants, both in authentic and in a new polyphonic form, is the most important part of Russian musical culture. This part of the national singing heritage is preserved by most modern church clerics in their daily prayer practice and occupies a significant place in the repertoire of church choirs of the Barnaul Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, preserving centuries-old singing traditions.
