Abstract

Kireunskie and Dvukhyurtochnye thermal springs situated within 15 km one from another at the flanks of the Sredinny Range of Kamchatka have been the object of studies during many years for their using for geothermal and therapeutic proposes. In this paper we generalize the literature and our own data on hydrogeology, geochemistry and geothermal potential of the springs based on the geological mapping, chemical and isotopic analyses and measurements of the flow rates of thermal waters. A large set of isotopic data including analyses of stable isotopes and Tritium in waters, as well as 3He/4He and N2/Ar in gases of the springs, allowed estimating the flow paths of waters at depth. A conceptual model of this geothermal area is proposed, which explains the similarities and differences of these two hydrothermal systems.
