Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine specificity of moral and ethical searches of the persona in the modern Kabardian novella, using the material of S. G. Khakhov’s work. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that moral and ethical issues in S. G. Khakhov’s lyric novellas “Be still, my heart!” and “Velga” are analysed in detail for the first time. The research findings have shown that, firstly, S. G. Khakhov’s works reveal persistent principles that make the writing style of their author recognisable; secondly, the lyric novellas “Be still, my heart!” and “Velga” are the result of the author’s deep understanding of nature of his contemporary in the aspect of social, national, moral ties; thirdly, the author has managed to articulate his moral position to the reader.
