Abstract

The article is devoted to the analytical review of the modern market of foreign language distance learning platforms. It systematizes terminology providing the definitions of such notions as distance learning, distance learning platform, online service. The author distinguishes a number of the most popular modern distance learning platforms (Moodle, Google Classroom, Sakai) and online services (Busuu, LinguaLeo, Lang- 8) with the purpose of analyzing them. The online services under research have considerable capability for developing a methodology of foreign language teaching and organizing students’ independent work.
