Abstract

The publication provides basic information about the work of the International Ethnographic Expedition in the Kyrgyz Republic in September 2021. The expedition brought together Russian and Kyrgyz scientists — ethnologists and ethnosociologists, who surveyed the settlements of the Issyk-Kul and Narynsk regions to study the current state of the Kyrgyz nomadic economy. A high degree of preservation of the system of traditional cattle-breeding economy, as well as associated crafts and phenomena of material culture, is noted. On the basis of the collected materials, a close ethnogenetic relationship of the Kyrgyz with the pastoralists of southern Siberia is revealed.
