Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of taking a Social Work with Women Course on gender sensitivity of college students and explore the meaning of students' classroom experiences. To achieve this, the social work with women course offered to second-year students in the Department of Social Welfare at C University was conducted using a flipped learning approach in a blended learning environment. For data collection, 38 students responded to a pre-course survey in the first week and a post-course survey in the 14th week, assessing gender sensitivity. Additionally, students wrote individual reflection journals after the course. The analysis involved paired-sample t-tests for the gender sensitivity survey responses and qualitative content analysis for the reflection journals. The results revealed an improvement in gender sensitivity. Qualitative content analysis identified three categories: 'New perspectives and awareness,' 'Facilitation of reflection,' and 'Interpersonal interactive experiences' Based on these findings, this study proposed areas for improvements in social work with women course to enhance gender sensitivity among social work major college students.
