Abstract

The article is concerned with the development of Russian regional psychology. The author determined the place of regional psychology and history of regional psychology in the system of psychological science. The author has outlined theoretical and methodological basis and prospects of the complex study of regional psychology based on the analysis of the works concerned with regional psychology and closely related scientific concepts (indigenous, native, local, aboriginal, national, provincial psychology). The article gives a brief overview of works devoted to historical and psychological study of the development of national (Soviet) psychology in various regions and republics of the state in postwar, late Soviet, and post-Soviet periods. The modern stage of investigating the problem has been presented through the description of historical and psychological approaches to the study of regional psychology by A. A. Shykun, and provincial psychology by N. Yu. Stukhina.
