Abstract

Purpose. To evaluate the long-term results of surgical treatment of full-thickness macular holes without vitreous cavity tamponade. Methods. The analysis of surgical treatment of 64 patients (64 eyes) with full-thickness macular holes of large diameter was carried out. Tamponade of the vitreal cavity at the end of the operation was not performed. Results. In all cases surgical treatment provided a positive anatomical, morphological and functional result. Conclusions. The study demonstrated the possibility of surgical treatment of of full-thickness macular holes without vitreous cavity tamponade. Key words: macular hole, platelet-rich plasma.
