Abstract

The relevance of the study of the specifics of the types of fear of student youth and self-regulation of their behavior is due to the sudden changes in modern society associated with the pandemic COVID-19. One of the key points was the situation of forced self-isolation, which was proposed by the state to prevent the spread of dangerous infections and reduce the number of deaths. This measure turned out to be an innovation for society, and psychological unpreparedness for it could affect the specifics of the manifestation of fears amongyounger generation. The respondents were 40 students aged 18 to 21, first-year students of various fields of the Institute of Service and Entrepreneurship, Branch of Don State Technical University in Shakhty, Rostov region. The methodological basis was the author's questionnaire, which allows to diagnose the peculiarities of the perception of the situation of uncertainty in conditions of forced self-isolation, which was based on the scheme of R. Leahy "Who do I want to be during COVID-19?", "Questionnaire of the hierarchical structure of current personal fears" (Yu. Shcherbatykh and E. Ivleva, ISAS), projective test "Draw your fear", allowing to study the content of fears; Spielberger-Khanin’s test of studying the level of situational and personal anxiety, a questionnaire style of self-regulation of behavior by V.I. Morosanova. The study identified the main types of fears of modern student youth in the period of forced self-isolation, as well as the intensity of their experiences and features of the style of self-regulation. The theoretical significance of the study is that the results expand the scientific understanding of the peculiarities of perception and experience of fears by students during the period of self-isolation. The practical significance is determined by the possibility of using the results of the study in psychological counseling of student youth on the problems of fears and anxiety, including in the event of a complex epidemiological situation.
