Abstract

The article states that the conceptual paradigm of school literary education in Ukraine is based on the key ideas of implementing a culturological approach to foreign literature teaching. The author points out that the culturological approach implementation in textbooks and anthologies on foreign literature is determined by biographical, historical-literary and cultural-artistic contexts, which are used to study literary works from the perspective of various historical and cultural phenomena. The principles of the culturological context implementation in the theoretical, analytical and illustrative blocks of 1990–2000 textbooks as an effective means of putting the culturological approach to foreign literature teaching in secondary schools are revealed. It is claimed that the effective usage of advanced methodological achievements of previous historical epochs will contribute to the modern strategy elaboration for designing and using textbooks in school literary education based on culturological approach, identifying areas for improvement of the textbook from the perspective of this issue. The paper highlights the influence of artistic interaction between the literature and other arts (painting, cinema, theater, music, sculpture, architecture, etc.) on the actualization of fundamental and background students’ knowledge, their reading, life and sensory experience, and improving the person’s inner world, and forming readers’ tastes and interests throughout the life. The author focuses on the gradual improvement of artistic interaction in textbooks and anthologies on foreign literature of this historical period from the illustrative approach to the wide culturological context, which is implemented in biographical essays, literary-critical materials, methodical part and illustrative materials of textbooks. It is shown that the authors of textbooks mainly take into account the specific features of artistic perception of each art form and propose a system of work that focuses on improving the analysis and interpretation skills of literary works, taking into account artistic analogues.
