Abstract

Purpose: In 2021, Japan expanded and enacted the Act on Promoting the Use of Wood in Buildings for Contribution to a Decarbonized Society, which expanded the scope and purpose of the existing Wood Use Promotion Act, raising the ultimate goal of wood use to contribute to a decarbonized society. In this study, Japan’s Wood Utilization Promotion Act and Amendment Act are analyzed to analyze their contents and characteristics, and the effects of wood use policies for a decarbonized society. Method : B Since this study is centered on the legal system related to the promotion of wood use, the research method mainly focuses on materials provided by the Japanese government, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, as well as articles in Japanese architectural journals and newspapers, and refers to domestic prior research related to wood. Result : The main amendments to the amended law can be summarized as upgrading the concept of law and presenting a new basic philosophy accordingly through the goal of realizing a decarbonized society, expanding the scope of application of buildings targeted for wood use promotion and the scope of use of wood, unifying the operation of a promotion system and basic policy dedicated to promoting wood use by establishing the Wood Utilization Promotion Headquarters, establishing an agreement system for promoting wood use of buildings, and strengthening publicity about wood through wood use promotion days and monthly days.
