The article is devoted to studying the processes of changing the gender display and emancipation of women in Kabardino-Balkaria in the period of the 1920-50s. The authors come to the conclusion about the exogenous nature of social changes. The paper proves that in the situation of catastrophic circumstances of war and repression, as well as political struggle of the Soviet government with patriarchal relations, there was a change in the behavioural frames of the republic’s population.
