Abstract

The article deals with the concept of "public opinion". An attempt is made to consider the essence of public opinion in conjunction with the concepts of public consciousness, legal consciousness. Attention is drawn to the study of the structure of public opinion, the problem of reflection of public opinion in the Internet space in the relationship of the influence of public opinion on the observance of human rights and freedoms. The diversity of the interpretation of the concept of "public opinion" is highlighted. Various approaches in the theory of public opinion, the influence of the media on public opinion, as well as the role that public opinion plays in a democratic society are analyzed.
