Abstract

Experience gained from application of automated transient mode monitoring systems (TMMS) involving the use of synchronized phasor measurement devices has proven a positive effect from application of TMMS for enhancing the power system reliability. The article considers matters concerned with achieving more reliable and efficient operation of power systems through wide-scale use of smart electronic devices for various functional purposes with supporting the technology of synchronized phasor measurements. In developing such devices, it is important to analyze the performance of smart devices under the conditions of electromagnetic and electromechanical transients and to consider synthesis of digital filters for improving the static and dynamic characteristics of these devices.
