Abstract
The aim of the research is to study title in the works, popular science articles, commentaries to musical works editions of Russian musicologists and piano performing school representatives. The scientific originality of the research is determined by lack of title studies in musicology and the necessity to compensate this gap in connection with modern ideas. As a result, it has been identified that a title of a musical work possesses the characteristics of a name of a musical text and becomes its integral part.
