Abstract
The article is devoted to the Battle of the Dnipro – one of the largest on the eastern (German-Soviet) front during World War II. Traditionally, Soviet and post-Soviet militarist historians, describing the confrontation between the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army and the Wehrmacht on the Dnipro as a turning point, are unanimous that the battle was its end, the crowning achievement of the Red Army at Stalingrad and Kursk Bulge. Reducing the scale and significance of the battle for the Dnipro, the Soviet historical and propaganda machine resorted to artificially reducing its chronological boundaries, and thus the covered areas. In research, the author raises the question of the need for a scientific rethinking of the Battle of the Dnipro – expanding its chronological and territorial boundaries, and objective determination of its military-political, economic, and historical significance. The article is prepared to take into account modern scientific ideas about the event and is based on historical sources.
