Abstract

In the literature review the advances are discussed achieved in the application of total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (TXRF) to study the elemental compositions of different types of water. The special features of the main stages of analysis are described. Particular attention is given to the equipment, sample preparation procedure and error sources in TXRF of waters with various compositions. The examples of matrix effects and spectral interferences in TXRF and metrological characteristics of technique s are presented. Key words : Total reflection X-ray fluorescence analysis, TXRF, water.
