Abstract

The paper aims to identify typical features of the Russian democratic socialism as an integral element of the global socialist movement. The author examines the basic provisions of the democratic socialist theory taking into account its national interpretations representing specificity of the Russian political and cultural mentality. Scientific originality of the study involves a comparative analysis of the European socialists’ and the Russian socialists’ views on the key ideological and tactical issues of struggle for social progress. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that the domestic democratic socialism anticipated the conception of social legal state recently adopted in many West European countries.
